Center of Stock Market Studies: spreading knowledge about the capital market

The Lima Stock Exchange is a company committed to spread the stock market culture; therefore, on 2006 it created the Center for Stock Market Studies (BURSEN), which to date has more than 45,000 people trained through courses, seminars, conferences, induction talks and workshops, in Lima and all over the country.

Throughout 2015, more than 3 thousand people were trained in the different modes of study BURSEN offers: Study programs and Certification, Conferences and Training, Induction Talks and Stock Market Thursdays:

Study Programs and Bursen Certification

During 2015, the Center of Stock Market Studies of the BVL, through various programs and courses offered, managed to train a total of 731 people. The program with more participants throughout this year was “Financial Risks Manager ", with 152 trainees, and also provides dual certification: one by the Lima Stock Exchange and other as risk-CRA ( Certified Risk Analyst) awarded by the American Academy of Financial Management (AAFM). Of the 152 participants, 70% has passed the tests and obtained dual certification.

Also, new courses were implemented in the curriculum of Bursen, these were: Securities Alternative Market Specialist, Dividend Policy seminar and the Trading Investment Specialist Program, resulting in a total of 50 trainees.

The development and modernization of training at the training center is very important, since with this, it is intended that the courses offered are up to the demands that the market requires. Last October, an agreement with London-based organization certifications CISI (Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment) was signed, through which our program Stock Market Fundamentals has adapted to an international standard curriculum that will give participants the opportunity to obtain this important certification.

Conferences and Training within the country

We seek the trading culture to be accessible to all and that the capital market becomes known as an investment and financing alternative for all those who require it; it is why it is particularly important that the Lima Stock Exchange reaches the interior of the country. Therefore, during 2015 three major activities were carried out: in April, a special lecture was held at Universidad Alas Peruanas in the city of Huacho, this event was attended by 150 people- among young students and professionals- interested in learning more about the operation of capital markets and investment alternatives offered by the BVL. Later in June, the BVL, through BURSEN, was present in the city of Huaraz, being part of the "The Economy and Finance Week" organized by Universidad Nacional Santiago Antúnez de Mayolo, where an induction presentation called "Meeting the BVL" was offered, it explained the work and relevance of the company for the domestic financial system. In the second half of the year, during October, the V Congress of Stock Market Investment (CIB) was held, an event that has been held since 2013 in cities like Cusco, Huancayo, Trujillo, Tacna and, this time, in Arequipa. This important event took place at Universidad Católica de Santa María, where SMV (Stock Market Superintendence), Diviso Financial Group and BVL Kevala Advisors have participated. The speakers talked about the role of the BVL in the local economy, the importance of regulation-and the mechanisms that exist for this, corporate governance, investment options, among other topics that interested the 250 participants.

Induction Talks and Stock Market Thursdays

2015 was a great year in terms of induction talks. These are for universities, colleges, schools, businesses and the general public who want to learn about the Lima Stock Exchange, how it works and what alternatives it offers the investor and the entrepreneur. In total, more than 3 thousand people were trained, being November the month with more participants: 674 attendees.

Within the plan of free training, lectures are being conducted to provide participants with the most relevant information on the economic situation of the country and the world, for it, " Stock Market Thursdays" are held every month with different speakers, experts in economics and finance with extensive background and experience in the market, who selflessly support us in achieving these presentations. In total, on 2015, 12 talks were held with a total of 1,023 participants.
